Deregister a car in Munich
Selling your car, not using it for a while, or having it scrapped? We deregister your vehicle (Abmeldung) at the Munich registration authority – quickly and without an appointment.

When to deregister
- Storage: you won't use the car for a while. A vehicle can stay deregistered for up to seven years.
- Leaving Germany or selling to a buyer who expects a deregistered vehicle.
- Scrapping at a certified recycling company.
Vehicles with plates from other German cities can also be deregistered in Munich.

For a deregistration, part I and the plates are usually enough – no insurance number or SEPA mandate needed.
